Bungee, known for Destiny 2, would have had a lot of problems in the healthy work environment. It is unfortunately not a surprising development because we have seen such problems occur with Ubisoft and with Activision Blizzard over the past year. But the difference between bungee and the giants of the game lies in the way it started to change.

Before, Bungee had a problem with a toxic work environment. And it’s put it lightly. There is a long list on IGN where they cover all in depth, but here is a brief summary of some of the things that have occurred in recent years. Apparently, employees had to deal with everything from an explosive team leader who once threw a chair through a window, to employees who saw their male counterparts attributing the merit of their work, hours from 80 to 100 hours to women and people. Minorities leaving the studio for not being able to get the essential help of human resources. In fact, HR people actively spoke in the back of the people the way the employees dressed, one of the women who were called slut.

It’s a lot to cash, and it’s very upsetting. But, there is an advantage for all this.

From 2018 to 2020, there were changes in the workplace within Bungee. Toxic trails have been extracted from the company itself and support groups have been created for women, homosexuals and minority employees within the company. And, too, Bungee has created a new seasonal / different expansion model to facilitate the work of the narrative team.

It’s a good start for Bungee, and there have been obvious results by supporting their employees. Destiny 2 prospered thanks to this care dedicated to its employees. But it’s just that. It’s a start, not the end. While many playground companies can learn from this model, rather than trying to remove the voice of their employees, Bungee can still do more.

And if they do it, there may be nothing that can prevent Bungee not only from creating the games they want, but they will also have their choice among the best in the video game industry.
